Scholarships & Financial Aid

Urmia University offers full scholarships to undergraduate and graduate international students with outstanding educational backgrounds: awarded students study free of charge and also receive health-care insurance and dormitory accommodation (study stipends, tickets and travel allowances are not included). Age limits: 24 for undergraduate and D.V.M. programmes, 26 for master's, 32 for PhD. GPA minimums (out of 20): 15 in the high school diploma for undergraduates, 16 in the bachelor's degree for master's applicants, 16 in the master's degree for PhD applicants. Master's graduates who published an ISI article from their thesis in a Q1 or Q2 journal are exempt from the age and GPA conditions. The scholarship runs at most 4 years for a bachelor's, 2 for a master's, 7 for D.V.M., 4 for PhD-by-research and 3 for PhD-by-course — after that the student pays tuition for the remaining period. It is reviewed every semester and can be cancelled for weak performance, and it cannot be combined with another Iranian university's scholarship. Eligibility is decided by the International Campus Council and the International Relations office. Tuition discounts are also available: 25–50% for teaching/research assistants, 30% for top master's students, 20% for master's graduates continuing to a doctorate, and 20% for students with a family member at the university.
